Studying for the Make-up Test
“All right. You should at least know what to do now.”
“Oh yeah! We’re perfect!”
“Thank….you….”
We’ve hit the final moments before the end of our lunch break. We were just barely able to work through the entire workbooks of the two girls which gave me at least some sense of security for the two of them. We were able to figure out what they were weak on, and we taught them using predictions on what we figured would be on the tests. Hopefully this means they’ll be able to do some studying on their own later. Each of them have their own notebooks filled with notes and messages that me, Ranko, and Saki wrote on our own.
“I can’t believe I was able to learn so much in one go~ Maybe it would’ve been better to do this after school~”
“Come on, is that something you should say to the people who went out of their way to tutor you?”
I playfully poked Honoka’s side. It seemed like she was waiting for someone to reply to her, and she grinned.
“I have something I must do today, so I will be heading home immediately after school.”
“Me too~”
“See. You would’ve been left on your own if we had waited anyway.”
“I see, that’s too bad.”
And that was it. Honoka didn’t seem too broken up about it. Maybe she’s feeling relieved because she’s made it out of this in one piece? It’s too soon for her to be dropping her guard here.
“Whatever the case, it’s good we managed to finish what we could. You gotta strike while the iron is hot.”
“Yeah that! It’s all about how well you do what you say.”
“That isn’t quite the same thing.”
“Eh~”
I’m having a hard time feeling confident about this.
“Now now, moving on. We’ve taught you everything you didn’t understand, so how about heading home early and studying there?”
“H-Heh~”
“….Nemesis, test, destruction….”
Yuzurin’s voice sounded murderous. Maybe she’s transitioning into an assassin-type chuunibyou now. To be honest, I’ve figured out she likes playing this character of hers, but if you ask me what kind of character that is, I honestly wouldn’t be able to tell you.
That was the end of it until school ended. Ranko and Saki went home early while Honoka and Yuzuriha went to the club room together. The reason for that is….
“I thought we’d double down on some studying~”
“Studying for the re-examination….the continuation….”

“But…studying with Honoka-chan….concerns me….”
“Ugh…. But, I can’t deny that~ If it’s just the two of us, we’d probably start playing some game right away. Too bad we don’t have someone who could help us out. Someone who could help supervise~?”
“That sounds a lot more like babysitting than supervising….but okay.”
“Then let’s get to it,” I then urged them, so we could quickly get into study mode. They both took out their problem sets and got to work on them, so I figured I was fine reading my book. I pulled it out of my bag however, I failed to learn my lesson from the morning….
“Ah, it’s the pervert book.”
“Like I already said. It’s not.”
“Pervert….book? Yuriha-chan has finally been corrupted….!? How sad….”
“See! You’re going to make Yuzu think weird things about me! Stop saying that!”
It’s reaching the point of defamation. Although, I know Yuzurin collects her own yuri manga, so I am curious if she ever buys any….naughty yuri books herself.
“Hehe~. Sorry sorry. It just came out.”
“Not at all! It’s just a normal book. Now focus, you two should be studying already!”
“Kay~”
“Do you actually get it….”

Surprisingly, the two of them didn’t slack off that much, and every time I raised my eyes from my book, they were working through each set one after another. I was actually able to finish my book. I set it down and stretched out my arms, only noticing the other two’s gazes on me after. It looks like they’re finally getting bored.
“No more….studying….?”
“Mmm, We’ve been doing our best until now~ But I’m getting bored~”
“The test is right around the corner you know…. You shouldn’t stop just because you don’t want to keep studying….”
It’s astonishing. However, perhaps dissatisfied, Yuzuriha rubbed her eyes and groaned.
“It’s already late…. I’m going home…”
“Ah, I suppose you’re right.”
When I looked out the window, it really had gotten dark out without me realizing. I suppose it makes sense. I did read half a novel. I didn’t check the time when I started, but it has to have been at least two hours. I’d have to say the two of them did their best.
“Okay. You two really worked hard these last couple of hours. Let’s head back.”
I patted them both on the heads, wanting to show them some respect.
“O-kay~ O-kay~”
“Mm….”
Ah, just what I’d expect from two girls with the sister attribute….which might be a weird thing to say all things considered, but they’re the type of people you just want to be cute with.
“Tomorrow afternoon, lunch break! Testestestest! Let’s fly off, Testotoro~!”
“W-What? Tes-totoro?”
“Come bring it on! Testestestestest~!”
“Sorry, but please shut up….”
She really is a girl who lives only at her own pace. It’s tempting to tease her since she’s always so serious about it, but it might be more fun to just let her keep living how she wants.
“Then for now Yuriha-chan…. this is it.”
“We have to say goodbye for a while….”
“You realize we’ll see each other tomorrow right? But, make sure you properly take care of yourselves as you study okay?”
“It will be just fine~! We can just study some more in the morning, and everything will work out just fine.”
“Wake up….early!”
“And that’s a flag for oversleeping….”
“Flag flag incident conditions! We’ll stop the foreshadowing from turning to reality just like that!”
“I am good….at waking up early….”
“I see. Good luck then.”
I wondered if the response I chose came off as too old-fashioned, but honestly, I don’t think that’s something I ever really need to worry about when I’m with these two. Being with them is a lot more comfortable than I ever would have thought.
We left the school together, but we don’t go far before we have to separate.
“Then see ya. Until tomorrow.”
“No no~ Farewell fine lady!”1
“Cheer….io~”
“Hehe, goodbye.”
Such fun kids.
As I started home, I suddenly realized I had forgotten something back in the club room.
“Shoot, my book.”
The moment I no longer had to play the serious student, I show just how clumsy I can be. Well, I have school tomorrow anyway. I’ve already finished reading it too, so it’s not like I need it right away anymore. I’ll just swing by and collect it when I have the chance.
With that in mind, I headed home, kicking a couple stone on the side of the street as I went.
