And that’s the end of part 1.

 

The time has finally come to say goodbye to Prince Routh.

“El~. We’ll see each other again. …..It’s impossible to do it right away, but I’ll visit El, so will you come visit me?”

I kept hugging El close to me, refusing to let him go. The king and queen were watching us with warm smiles, but for some reason both Father and Allen’s faces were making a more complicated expression.

“…..I, go”

A small whisper made its way to my ear.

“Eh?”

“I….go…..too”

“E-El!? Your voice!”

I pulled my cheek off of his head and looked down with my arms still wrapped around him.

“You’re starting to get your voice back.”

“…Rose, …….I will, come and…..visit you too”

His voice was a little broken and strained, but my ears still managed to catch every word coming from El’s mouth.

“Y-Yes! Absolutely. We’ll see each other again. ……Yay. I got to hear El’s voice.”

I desperately held back my tears, giving El my biggest smile as I said goodbye and got on the carriage.

 

 

 

“Rose-sama, we’re almost there.”

At some point I must have fallen asleep because Allen had to wake me up when he noticed we were almost home. It’s been a couple days now that we’ve been riding this carriage, and I’ve spent almost the entire time staring out the window and feeling lonely.

“…..Allen, are you always going to be with me?”

“Yes. Even if Rose-sama comes to hate me, I will be with you for the rest of my life.”

Able to see how lonely I was, Allen looked at me with a gentle smile.

“I’d be in a lot of trouble if I started hating you.”

I let out a small laugh, and my father who was listening close by started rubbing my head.

“As long as Allen is serving you, I can rest easy.”

“Leave it to me Master. I will get stronger and spend my entire life protecting Rose-sama.”

“Hmm, that’ll be a huge help.”

“Geez, Allen’s exaggerating. ….Hey, does Father think we will meet El again?”

“Oh, of course. Our country and Ashtel aren’t at odds, so I’m sure we will definitely see him again.”

Then may we meet again someday. Even though I don’t really believe in him, I sent my prayer up to God.
